LaCabanna History
The LaCabanna was built in 1948 by the Orsini family. It opened just after the end of WWII and quickly became one of the hottest nightclub and restaurant in the area. People from Plattsburgh to Albany would flock to the LaCabanna for their famous Prime Rib dinners.
It operated as a thriving restaurant all through the 60's, 70's and 80's. There was even a reported UFO that landed in the parking lot in the 70's ( You can read the newspaper article about it in the phone booth when you arrive ) It was a great place to have a wedding reception, in fact one of our parents had theirs there.
The restaurant closed down in the mid 80's and sat vacant for almost 10 years. In 1996 Slack Property Management bought the property and began renovations. SPM went to great lengths to restore and preserve as much of the original building as possible. The main bar area was left intact as well as the great room ( the old dining room ).
